Book Review: Camp Monster by Kate Messner

Synopsis: Tasha’s family has run Camp Yeti for generations, but these days there just aren’t enough Yetis to fill the bunks. This summer they are rebranding as CAMP MONSTER–a superfun summer camp experience for ALL of monster-kind. Tasha can’t wait to show off all the camp traditions she loves!
But things get off to a rocky start–the goblins are causing a ruckus, the ogre is a total diva, and the werewolf keeps disappearing. This is not the perfect summer Tasha had hoped for. Then a series of mysterious mishaps occurs . . . someone is trying to sabotage Camp Monster! Can these monsters set aside their differences to find out who is behind the hijinks?
Love Grey’s Review: Every once in a while, a book comes along that a child loves so much, they aren’t ready to give it back. That’s exactly what happened when Greyson read Camp Monster by Kate Messner!
Greyson absolutely loved this graphic novel and highly recommends it to other young readers. From the characters to the illustrations, there was so much she enjoyed about this book. Lupo, was her favorite character.
A Monster-Sized Favorite
One of Greyson’s favorite things about Camp Monster was Lupo. He stood out to her, making him her favorite character in the story.
She also couldn’t stop talking about the pictures. As a fan of graphic novels, Greyson really appreciates illustrations that bring a story to life, and she thought the artwork in Camp Monster was awesome! The pictures were a big part of what made this book such a hit with her.
A Book Worth Reading (and Keeping!)
When Greyson finds a book she truly loves, she wants to hold on to it. Unfortunately, this was a library book, which means it has to go back.
Let’s just say she’s not exactly thrilled about that part!
She loves Camp Monster so much that we’re already considering buying a copy for her own bookshelf. Because sometimes, when a book makes that much of an impression, one library checkout just isn’t enough.
Would Greyson Recommend It?
Absolutely! Greyson highly recommends Camp Monster to kids who enjoy graphic novels, memorable characters, and monster-filled adventures.
Her enthusiasm for the story, her love for Lupo, and her appreciation for the illustrations make this one a definite favorite in our house.
