Grey’s Sourdough Starter

This book got us through the lock-down of COVID! It was really my first time experimenting with making sourdough breads. The main excitement of this process was waking up every morning to see if the starter grew. My kids loved that! It was like magic. Greyson really got into it. She enjoyed adding flour and water to the starters. Yep, we had more than one starter. 😉 We decided to do wheat and white bread flour. We were about able to compare which starter grew faster.
Anyways, the main reasons, why I love this cookbook so much besides the fact that it got us through a rough time is that the instructions were simple, and the recipes were good. It also made me want to branch out and learn more about fermenting other foods.
I don’t have any pictures of the process, but we are going to start another starter and document the daily process. This time around Greyson is now reading so I am going to let her take on the lead. We will start this after Easter, so that way I know that we will be home to work on starter every day.

Any Unbleached All-Purpose Flour or Bread Flour
Notebook
Rubber Bands (that fit around the jars)
Please note we will only be using unbleached all-purpose flour this time. Please stay tuned for updates on and pictures of our process and progress!
