Summer in Ellicott City: Our Cold Treat Trail Begins!
A LoveGreyson summer series
Summer is officially here in Ellicott City, and if your family is anything like ours, warm weather means one thing — cold treats. Ice cream, shaved ice, gelato, frozen custard, milkshakes, slushies… we love them all. And because Greyson is a sensory‑seeking adventurer, exploring new treat spots has become one of our favorite ways to enjoy the season together.
This year, we’re turning it into something special: A Cold Treat Trail — right here in our city.
Every week of summer, we’ll visit a different local spot and share our experience — the flavors, the vibes, the sensory‑friendliness, and the little moments that make each place memorable for Greyson.
🌞 Why a Cold Treat Trail?
Because summer should feel fun, simple, and full of small adventures. Because exploring our own community matters. Because cold treats are one of the easiest ways to create joy — especially for kids who love sensory experiences.
For Greyson, cold treats offer:
- Temperature play — cold, icy, creamy, crunchy
- Colorful visuals — sprinkles, swirls, bright syrups
- Predictable routines — order, wait, taste, enjoy
- Low‑pressure outings — short, sweet, and accessible
And for us as a family, it’s a chance to slow down, explore Ellicott City, and support local businesses.

- Our favorite flavors
- A “Would we go again?” moment

💛 Why We’re Sharing This
Because families — especially families with neurodivergent kids — deserve simple, joyful ideas for summer. Because exploring your own city can be just as magical as traveling far away. Because Greyson’s joy is contagious, and we love sharing it.
This series is our way of celebrating summer, community, and the little adventures that make childhood sweet.
