She carefully lined the marshmallows on the dehydrator trays\u2014though I\u2019ll admit, a few disappeared along the way! Every time I caught her sneaking one, she just laughed and kept on working. It was the kind of giggle-filled project that makes me love these moments together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the trays were full, she helped me set up the dehydrator. We started the temperature at <strong>113\u00b0F<\/strong> and later bumped it up to <strong>140\u00b0F.<\/strong> The marshmallows took a little over <strong>10 hours<\/strong> to fully dry, and the whole time, Greyson kept peeking in to check their progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they were done, she proudly took two canning jars and filled them up with the fluffy, crunchy marshmallows. Watching her scoop and stack them so carefully was such a joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now we\u2019ve got jars full of sweet treats, and we already have plans for how to use them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stirring them into <strong>hot cocoa or hot chocolate<\/strong> on chilly evenings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Munching them as a <strong>simple snack<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mixing them into <strong>trail mix<\/strong> for a fun twist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Greyson is especially excited to share with her <strong>Nonnie<\/strong> and her <strong>older sister Natalyn.<\/strong> I love how food prep projects like this give her a chance to create something she can gift and be proud of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was such an easy, hands-on activity, and it checked all the boxes\u2014sensory play, learning, and sweet rewards at the end. If you\u2019re looking for a kid-friendly fall project, I can\u2019t recommend dehydrating marshmallows enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Dehydrate Marshmallows at Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You\u2019ll Need:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Marshmallows (mini work best, but any size can be cut down)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A food dehydrator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Canning jars or airtight containers for storage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prep the Marshmallows<\/strong>: If using large marshmallows, cut them into halves or quarters. Mini marshmallows can go straight on the tray.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Arrange on Trays<\/strong>: Spread them out in a single layer on your dehydrator trays. (This step is perfect for kids to help with\u2014it\u2019s great fine motor practice!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Set Temperature<\/strong>: Start at about <strong>113\u00b0F<\/strong> and, if needed, increase up to <strong>140\u00b0F<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dehydrate<\/strong>: Let the marshmallows run for around <strong>10\u201312 hours<\/strong>, depending on size and humidity. They should be completely dry, crisp, and a little crunchy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cool &amp; Store<\/strong>: Let them cool fully, then place in airtight containers or canning jars.
